Soybeans were scouted at the R3 growth stage and curled up, yellow leaves in newer growth was observed. These are Enlist soybeans planted on April 23rd. These soybeans are located near a cotton crop.
Conclusion
This issue was confirmed by an NC State Extension Specialist as injury from Dicamba drift. Dicamba is an active ingredient in some agricultural herbicide chemicals. Enlist soybean varieties are sensitive to dicamba and can be injured by herbicide products that contain it. There is a greater chance for soybeans to recover when affected in vegetative stages. However, once reproductive stages start, that chance decreases and yield can be negatively affected.
