Soybeans were scouted at the VC growth stage and yellow/brown discoloration of the leaves were observed, with more severe damage noted on the cotyledons. Envive (group 2 & 14 herbicide) was applied PRE at planting. These were soybeans planted in research plots and the damage observed was seen across MG 5.1-5.8.
Conclusion
This issue was confirmed by an NC State Extension Specialist as flumioxazin injury. In this environment, the rain following planting could have synergized symptomology. Symptoms associated with flumioxazin injury include speckled necrosis, stunted growth, and plant death. Injury in this environment was not severe and the soybeans should continue to grow.
